Welcome to MLS Research Center

MLS Research Center has a simple goal  to bring together two groups of people who are lookingfor one another: (1) people who are trying to find research studies, and (2) researchers who are looking for people to participate in their studies. It is a free and secure registry that has been developed by major academic institutions across the country who want to involve you in the mission of helping today's studies make a real difference for everyone's health in the future.

Constipation

Constipation most commonly occurs when waste or stool moves too slowly through the digestive tract, causing it to become hard and dry. While the causes for Constipation may be diet related, there are many other possible causes of chronic constipation. It can be due to structural lesions of the colon (e.g., colon cancer, colon stricture or narrowing), medical conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, Parkinson’s disease, or pregnancy, or due to medications such as pain medications (narcotics), blood pressure medications (calcium channel blockers), anti-seizure medication, and antispasmodics.

What is Clinical Trials.gov

ClinicalTrials.gov is a Web-based resource that provides patients, their family members, health care professionals, researchers, and the public with easy access to information on publicly and privately supported clinical studies on a wide range of diseases and conditions. The Web site is maintained by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Information on ClinicalTrials.gov is provided and updated by the sponsor or principal investigator of the clinical study. Studies are generally submitted to the Web site (that is, registered) when they begin, and the information on the site is updated throughout the study. In some cases, results of the study are submitted after the study ends. This Web site and database of clinical studies is commonly referred to as a "registry" and "results database."
